From its inception in 1996 Woolworths/Safeway Petrol has grown to operate over 370 Sites nationally. Our journey began in Dubbo NSW where the first petrol site was opened in the car park of the local supermarket. This is a Pay Point site. From 1996 to 2000, Woolworths/Safeway Petrol continued to build and open Pay Point sites across the country. In 2000, Woolworths/Safeway identified the opportunity to expand in the retail petroleum business and began to build larger sites know as convenience sites. Convenience sites are not located in supermarket car parks but are generally close to our supermarkets.
